Gerardo (Jerry) Medina

Second-year computer science student at Cal State Fullerton, graduating May 2029. I mostly build the server side of web apps (payments, background tasks, live updates), make open-source tools for other developers, and have been making Roblox games since 5th grade. In September 2026 I founded Stelta.

Looking for Summer 2027 software engineering internships.

Projects

  • Mar 2026

    Nested

A wearable that assisted-living residents press to ask for help, plus a phone app for the staff caring for them, replacing paper logs and texts on caregivers' personal phones. 1st place and a $6,000 grant at CSUF's school-wide Engineering Social Justice Competition, won in my freshman year.

Built with input from staff at 3 Fullerton assisted-living facilities · Our team was mostly freshmen, up against master's students and upperclassmen

  • Oct 2026

    Backbone

A filing system for financial advisors that reads and labels every client document, so LPL's AI assistant can answer questions from the right files instead of an advisor digging through several dashboards. 1st place at the LPL Financial hackathon.

Built in 10 hours · Pitched as the filing system under Cyan, the AI assistant LPL is building for its advisors

  • Sep 2026

    MetricHouse

An open-source TypeScript library that counts things like sign-ups and sales inside the app you already have and hands you the finished numbers to store however you want. It fits any tech stack, needs no extra servers or paid analytics service, and doesn't lose data if a server crashes partway through saving.

1,664 npm downloads in its first three weeks · Works with any tech stack and any database · Records buyer analytics for the Adventure World ticketing platform

  • Sep 2026

    Murmur

An open-source tool that tests how your app handles heavy traffic by sending fake users who act like real ones (open the homepage, sign up, enter the code, then browse or buy), instead of hitting one page over and over.

Free and open source · Works with Claude Code, Codex and Cursor · Shows what to speed up before launch, with no test scripts to write by hand

  • Mar 2026 –

    Adventure World

A branded ticketing website for an events business whose events draw thousands of people. It replaces a ticketing marketplace that charged 12% + $1.25 per ticket; ours is priced at 3.5% + $0.50, about 69% less, and the client keeps its own brand and customer list.

The client's events draw thousands of people · About 69% lower ticket fees than the marketplace it replaces · Other businesses saw the demo, which led me to start Stelta · Pre-launch

  • Since 5th grade

    Roblox games and contract work

I've been building Roblox games since 5th grade. My games have 25M+ combined visits, I've sold some of them, and studios bring me onto games under NDA to build features and fix bugs.

25M+ combined visits · Dig and Shoot: 1.7M+ visits in one month, about $3.5K a month · Invited to the Roblox Developers Conference at 16

  • 2025

    IronDome

A tool that mapped and tracked Roblox games to find "rockets", games that already meet what Roblox's recommendation algorithm looks for but haven't been picked up yet, for a friend who buys games. Its data informed 3 purchases.

Informed 3 game purchases · Mapped 101K+ Roblox games

Experience

  • Sep 2026 –

    Founder (50% owner), Stelta LLC

Stelta builds ticketing websites for event businesses under their own brand, all running on one platform we license to each client. I started it after other nightlife businesses saw the ticketing site I was building for my first client, Adventure World.

  • Sep 2026 –

AI Trainer, Machine Learning Expert, Handshake AI Fellowship

I write test problems for a leading AI lab that check whether AI coding tools can keep a machine learning service working correctly when things go wrong, like crashes, timeouts and duplicate messages. Both problems I submitted were accepted.

  • Jun – Aug 2026

    Software Engineering Intern, K.T. Engineering

Staff filed production and finance logs by hand. I built a tool that reads each document with Amazon’s Textract service, pulls out the important fields, lets a person fix anything it misread, and files the document in the right folder with the right name. A colleague measured the task going from 3 hours to 30 minutes.

  • Since 5th grade

    Game developer and contractor, Roblox

I build and sell my own games, and studios hire me for work on games under NDA: one feature, one bug, or one process, and then the contract ends.

Smaller projects

  • Jun 2026

    Tower Defense Framework

A shared base for Roblox tower-defense games, so a new game only needs its own enemies, towers and maps instead of a rewrite. It’s designed to handle huge numbers of enemies: the server sends players only when enemies appear and die, and each player’s game works out the movement in between.

  • May 2026

    Pre-Market News Analyzer

Final project for my AI class. Six AI search tools gather a stock’s overnight news, and a language model calls whether the news is good or bad for the day without seeing the price. Switching to a different model raised accuracy from 73.3% to 86.7% on 15 articles I labeled by hand.

Right now

  • Running Stelta and building its first client’s ticketing platform (pre-launch).
  • Writing test problems for AI coding tools through the Handshake AI Fellowship.
  • Teaching algorithm workshops on the ACM Algorithm Board at CSUF. I’m also a ColorStack member.
